The Second Lady

Samuel loves to read books of facts.  Today I picked him Time for Kids Almanac: 2011.

Sam:  Mom, Barack Obama is the first African-American president.
Me:  Yes.
Sam:  And then there is the First Lady and the First Children.
Me:  Yes.
Sam:  So if daddy becomes president, you will be the Second Lady and we will be the Second Children.

Chicken comes from where?

Setting the stage:
We grilled tri tip for dinner tonight.  I must mention that James calls all meat chicken.  When Paul pulled the meat off the first time, it was still pretty rare.

James:  Mom, how do you know it's not quite done?
Me:  'Cause it's still bleeding.
James:  It's got blood?
Me:  Yes.  Do you know where beef comes from?
James:  No.
Me:  Beef comes from a cow.
James:  Oh.
Me:  Do you know where chicken comes from?
James:  Yes!  A turkey!

A Riddle

Think of words ending in "gry."  Two are angry and hungry. There are three words in the English language.  What is the third word?  HINT: Everyone uses it every day and if you've listened closely, I've already said the answer.

James, you have a...

James (to the tune of the Wedding March):  "Duh duh duh duh, duh duh duh duh, duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh..."

Sam (Very seriously):  James!  You have a chicken on your head!

Water Sliding

The boys had a ball at the family reunion.  They spent 3 hours playing in the water.  Makes me excited for summer at the beach!
